THE EMBARRASSMENT – I’m A Don Juan
A great and shamefully under exposed band. They formed in Wichita, Kansas in
1979 and made joyous punk pop until their split in 1983. Possibly the
coolest bunch of bespectacled men ever to walk the earth.
JULEE CRUISE – Into the Night
Driving at night music. The aesthetics of David Lynch combined with the
voice of Julee Cruise are a match made in heaven. It sounds like a happy
HAWKWIND – Silver Machine
Needs no introduction… Lemmy sings. It was a bicycle.
SILVER APPLES – Oscillations
Always sounds totally fresh even though its from 1968; we never tire of this
record. Groovy, mediaeval future music.
MINUTEMEN – The Glory Of Man
From their classic ‘Double Nickels on the Dime’ album which brings together
wider influences from jazz and funk and folk and melts them all together
with their hard core values. Their thrifty DIY attitude toward making music
and touring is something we respect and relate to also.
HARMONIA – Watussi
Harmonia were two members from Cluster and one from Neu. This track from
‘Musik Von Hamonia’ is a great mix of Krautrock and Kosmische music; the
linier drive and drone of kraut, with a kind of cosmic ambient feel to it.
Excellent driving music. It can be very internal passive listening or really
active and external.
